The wonders of technology have yet again pushed the boundaries. A recent invention allowed 29-year old Sloan Churman to finally hear her voice for the first time.

Sloan Churman was born deaf. She has relied on lip reading and hearing aids to get by all these years. Hearing aids did not help much in helping her achieve full hearing.
Two months ago, she received Envoy Medicals's Esteem Implant that allowed her to finally acquire her hearing. The Esteem Implants work by using eardrum vibrations to mechanically stimulate hearing.
The moment the hearing implant was activated is captured on this video here:

The pure joy of someone receiving something she's wanted so desperately is beautiful.
Said Churman, “I had an implant put in 8 weeks ago. I was born deaf and have worn hearing aids from the age of 2, but hearing aids only help so much. I have gotten by this long in life by reading lips. This was taken as they were activating the implant.”
