16 February 2012, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Football fanatics Mr Lim Kuk Chye, 64, and Mr Chua Ho Shing, 23, returned earlier this week from their all-expenses paid trip to England to watch live EPL action. They spent a day enjoying the sights of London and two days in Birmingham soaking in the atmosphere at Villa Park on 12th February when host team Aston Villa played Manchester City.

Age and nationality proved no barrier when it comes to football. Despite a 40 years age gap, Malaysian Mr Lim and Singaporean Mr Chua dined together, explored the cities as a duo and displayed the typical camaraderie that unites football fans at the stadium stands. The trip worth over US$3,500 each – courtesy of Resorts World Genting – included return air fares, match tickets, hotel accommodation, limousine transfers, meals at fine restaurants, and a cash allowance.

Over a 4 weeks period that ended on 25 January 2012, Resorts World Genting ran an online social games campaign on its website and other Genting websites. Thousands of participants logged on to play the game Football Craze for a chance to win the coveted trip to England. Upon achieving a qualifying score on the game, they had to enter a T-shirt slogan; Mr Lim’s and Mr Chua’s slogans emerged the winning entries.

“This is the biggest prize that I’ve won, thanks to a family effort! My two children and I played the game for many hours and we put our heads together to come up with the winning slogan” exclaimed Mr Lim.

International leisure and hospitality group Genting has been employing MatchMove Games’ content across their group’s websites since July last year.

Mr Soo Chan Yee, Assistant Vice President at Resorts World Genting, said, “The social games platform on our websites is testament of our recognition that the Internet has become an important medium for us to reach our customers. With Genting being the T-shirt sponsor for Aston Villa for the next two years, this campaign was an ideal way to reward our customers as well as create visibility for our sponsorship.”

Indeed Mr Chua felt he was handsomely rewarded. It was his first trip to England and he came home very impressed with the hospitality extended, “The arrangements and itinerary were meticulously thought up, from the excellent meals to the convenient accommodation. The trip was made even better by the hosts who were all so gracious and welcoming.”

Resorts World Genting will be rolling out its next online games campaign in early March, where another two winners will voyage together to catch Aston Villa play Tottenham Hotspur on 5th May.

The two winning slogans – “Genting Entertainment to the hilt, AVFC Excitement at full tilt!” and “Genting and AVFC: Above the Clouds and Among the Stars.” – by Mr Lim and Mr Chua respectively will be flashed within the game used in this upcoming campaign.
