Games may soon have a place at your office

There has been some recent noise about gaming in the workplace, and strangely enough, it isn’t negative.

In fact, a recent report by ANI seems to claim that video games can help an organization’s employees become more effective.

After some studies, researchers at the University of Colorado’s Denver Business School have come to the conclusion that employees trained using video games perform better. Not only that, they have better skill levels and are able to retain information longer than their other peers!

One of the researchers, Traci Sitzmann, recommended that companies use games that engage users. She also said that employees should have access to such games whenever they want.

This is obviously big news, especially for those who may say that games have no place in the office.

However, it shouldn’t be too surprising, seeing as even certain schools are starting to implement educational video games as part of their curriculum.

Pro-game advocates beware: this doesn’t mean that you now have a license to play games at the office whenever you feel like it! The games that Sitzmann talks about are carefully designed programs that serve to entertain while teaching. Loading up Fishdom 2 while at your desk doesn’t count toward this concept.

Sitzmann also cautions that games cannot be the only form of instruction. Games cannot be a substitute for real training, but can be a helpful tool.

It’s going to take some time before most companies embrace the idea, but it’s definitely staring to gain traction. Games can be helpful even in the workplace, as long as they’re used properly.

Don’t worry, if you don’t want to wait for your company to provide training games, you can always play some of our excellent titles.

Looking for more games? Why not try Bejeweled 2, or Zuma’s Revenge?
