Facebook pages are the new rage in marketing nowadays. They are used to publicise anything from doggie biscuits to 9gag posts. It’s a great way to get in touch with an audience that always has Facebook open in one tab, kind of like how we used to watch TV with the radio, stereo, and everything noise-making on.
But how do you make sure your Facebook page keeps your audience engaged and coming back for more?
1. Post often

This is the golden rule of managing a Facebook page. It must have regular updates and constant new content. The updates can come from you, or they can come from your page’s fans – as long as there is content, people will be inspired to read on. Of course, you have to make sure what you’re posting is relevant, or at least funny!
2. Be informative, not wordy

Whenever people come to a Facebook page for the first time, they’ll be taken to the Info tab. This is your chance to make your page shine. Only write down what they can digest at a glance, and be sure to use snappy phrases to hook them. If you write too much, Facebook automatically truncates your content, and be assured that not many folk bother to click on the ‘read more’ link.
3. Pictures. More pictures!

As with all posts made on the Internet, pictures are very important when it comes to interacting with your audience. A picture provides them with a focal point, and helps exaggerate what you’re trying to get across. A picture also grabs the eye more than a chunk of text does, and with the sharing capabilities on Facebook, you can be sure the photos you use will always be credited to their original posters.

4. Be interactive

Remember that you have an audience, and that they are fully capable of responding. Seek your page’s fans’ views, be sure to phrase status updates as questions and not statements, or even create a point of discussion. Always remember – you have to give your fans something to talk about.
But more importantly, be sure to respond to them!
5. Always be respectful of your fans

There’s a living person behind each Facebook profile out there, so always play nice. Be respectful and polite when you interact with your fans, and always treat them as equals. Think of a Facebook fan as a customer, and not a faceless Internet entity, and you’ll get how you should be interacting with them
